The Invisalign® Procedure
To plan your treatment, we’ll first discuss the goals for your smile. Then we’ll take x-rays, as well as a photo of your smile. We’ll also take impressions of your teeth, after which we will use your custom models to create your individualized treatment plan. Invisalign’s revolutionary software allows us to see how your teeth will move into their final positions. You’ll get a series of aligners over the course of your treatment; typically, this amounts to 20-30 aligners.

What are the Advantages of Invisalign®?

Considering Invisalign® for your Teens
Teens now have a clear choice for braces. You can get nearly-invisible braces with Invisalign®. To be a candidate for Invisalign®, you must have lost all of your baby teeth, and your second molars must be partially erupted. Contact Westside Dental Centre to see if Invisalign® is right for you. Treatment time for teens does vary, but most patients receive 12-25 sets of aligners over the course of their Invisalign experience. We’ll be happy to sit down with you and discuss the best course of treatment for your individual needs and goals.
Frequently Asked Questions
Your custom-made Invisalign aligners are designed to be worn throughout the day and night. That means that you should be wearing your aligners for 22+ hours a day. Of course, you can take them out to eat, as well as to brush & floss your teeth.
The treatment time for Invisalign varies from person to person, depending on a number of factors in your particular circumstances. It could be as little as six months or similar to the treatment time associated with traditional braces. Some patients wear them for a year or more. We'll work with you to give our best estimate up front, but of course we will want to focus on getting the best results for you through the most thorough process.
While wearing Invisalign aligners, you should come see us every 6 weeks or so. We'll want to take a look at your progress, answer any questions you may have and make adjustments as necessary.
Invisalign aligners are called “Invisalign” for a reason: because they are virtually invisible. Compared to traditional forms of braces that were uncomfortable and noticeable, people won’t really notice that you’re wearing the Invisalign aligners. They are the perfect discrete solution to getting the smile you always wanted.
Compared to traditional forms of braces that had countless restrictions, and were often a pain to eat with, there are no food restrictions with your Invisalign aligners! They are removable and you are able to enjoy all of your favourite foods throughout your teeth alignment process.
No, Invisalign aligners are designed to be the more comfortable alternative to getting traditional metal braces. They can on occasion leave your teeth feeling sore, but should not cause significant pain or extended periods of time. The main discomfort, if any, should come with getting used to wearing them initially - from the pressure that they exert on your teeth.
